Let me walk you through what palliative care really means.
Many people think that if you need Palliative Care Education that means that you have given up. That is not true. Palliative care is all about comfort, pain relief, symptom relief, making you feel supported, and helping you get the treatment agreed upon with your doctor.
I have been with families that were afraid to even ask for palliative care because they thought that all hope was gone. But I want to assure you that hope and comfort go hand in hand.
What I offer is simple.
First, I will help you understand your options. No medical jargon. Just an honest, gentle conversation about what palliative care can do for you or someone you love. In some situations, families want to know more about voluntary stopping of eating/drinking and MAID (medical aid in dying), and I provide information and support to those individuals/families.
Second, I will stay with you. I bring a calming presence to appointments, to quiet moments at home, to the hard questions that keep you up at night. You do not have to face any of this alone.
How this feels.
Picture yourself sitting in an afternoon of quiet after talking with your doctor. you sit with confusion and fear with someone by your side to explain things in simple terms, to hold your hand, and remind you to breathe. This is what I am here for. I am here to be with you. I am here to help you find peace in small moments.
