  3. In this end-of-life work, I have found that no two families are alike. Sometimes, I suggest that the client and/or family choose a three-session care package to begin with, and then add sessions as they become more aware of their priorities and need for support in particular areas. It has also been my experience that when families have the time and space to plan and process, this often makes a bundle of sessions especially supportive.

Specialized Bedside Support Vigil Care:

As the active stages of dying begin, sometimes there is a need for bedside Doula support. Family caregivers may want to use this support in a number of ways: learning what to expect, taking a respite break for themselves, or wanting a reassuring presence to support them through these moments and up through the actual death of their loved one.

Bedside Doula care and its pricing are offered at 3 levels of service, based on the number of vigil hours per day requested by the client and family:

1) All three levels of Doula Vigil Care include the following services:

  • Provides 24-hour on-call support
  • Reiki energy healing, guided imagery meditation for the dying & caregivers, if needed.
  • Support & guidance to ensure that the vigil plan is carried out as intended.
  • Early grief work with family/caregivers as needed.
  • Within 3–6 weeks after the death, the Doula will meet with family and/or caregivers to process the experience and provide beginning grief support and community resources.
1st Level of Doula Vigil Care provides up to 5 days of vigil support at two hours per day (10 total hours) — $800
2nd Level of Doula Vigil Care provides up to 5 days of vigil support at four hours per day (20 total hours) — $1,600
3rd Level of Doula Vigil Care provides up to 5 days of vigil support at eight hours per day (40 total hours) — $3,200
